Mylar bags: closures, barriers and formats

What a Mylar bag is, which barrier your product needs and which format sells it best.

What Mylar is

A multilayer metallised film. Its barrier against light, oxygen and moisture protects the product and extends shelf life.

Closures: zip, valve and spout

A zip closure can be reopened. A valve lets air out without letting oxygen in, useful for coffee. A spout is used for liquids and dosing.

Most common formats

Flat bottom for shelves, stand-up pouches for display, windows to show the contents, and 3- or 8-side seal for lower-cost formats.

Choosing the barrier

If the product is sensitive to light or oxygen, choose a high barrier. For dry, low-sensitivity products, a standard barrier is usually enough.

Printing and white label

You can print full colour or work white label with your shop design. Confirm the print area with the factory before designing.
