How to prepare your artwork for packaging print
Files, colours, bleed and sizes: what to check before sending your design to the factory.
File format
Send vector artwork (PDF or AI) with fonts converted to outlines. Images should be at least 300 dpi at final size.
Colours: CMYK and Pantone
For full-colour print use CMYK. If your brand needs an exact colour, give the Pantone code and we will confirm it in the colour proof.
Bleed and safe area
Add the bleed the factory asks for (usually about 3 mm) and keep important text away from the edges.
Exact sizes
Design at the final pack size. If you do not know it, ask for the dieline before you start.
The colour proof
Review the physical or digital proof before mass production. It is your last chance to correct colours, text or logos.
